Driver Information

Everything you need to know about licence requirements, age policies, responsibilities and what to bring on the day of pick-up.

Key driver information

  • Minimum rental age is 21 years; maximum is 75 years.

  • Drivers aged 21–23 may be subject to a young driver surcharge — contact us before booking for details.

  • A valid driving licence held for at least 1 year is required. EU licences are accepted directly; non-EU drivers must carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their national licence.

  • All registered drivers must be present at vehicle pick-up with their original driving licence — photocopies or digital copies are not accepted.

  • The vehicle is delivered with a full tank of fuel. Return it full or the difference will be charged at the current local pump rate.

  • The renter is fully responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets and toll charges incurred during the rental period.

  • Lost or damaged keys are the renter's responsibility. The full cost of replacement keys and any call-out fee will be charged.

  • Rental extensions are subject to vehicle availability. Contact us at least 24 hours before the rental end to arrange.

  • Transporting the vehicle by ferry or inter-island boat requires prior written approval from Coolcar. Damage sustained during transport is not covered by any insurance package.

  • Coolcar reserves the right to provide a vehicle of equal or higher category based on availability, at no change to the agreed rental price.

  • The renter is responsible for the vehicle's security at all times — always lock the car and never leave valuables visible inside.

  • All roads on Paros island are suitable with a standard Category B driving licence. No off-road or specialist licence is required.
